ARB Earth Camper: Off-Road Adventure and Features

The ARB Earth Camper: Off-Road Adventure and Features represents a blend of luxury and functionality, offering a compact camper trailer designed for tackling rugged off-road terrain. This camper marks ARB’s first foray into the camper trailer market, and the brand’s approach was to create a lightweight, highly off-road capable unit with a wealth of amenities while keeping its size versatile for various terrains.

The inception of this camper concept dates back to 2016, and since then, ARB has diligently carried out the essential design and testing phases to make it a reality. Currently, it’s available in Australia, but the possibility of its availability on the other side of the globe remains uncertain.

Earth Camper Chassis

Let’s delve into the distinctive chassis that forms the foundation of the Earth Camper. Rather than opting for the conventional box frame, this camper features a mandrel-bent tubular steel chassis. This design offers remarkable rigidity and minimizes vulnerable points susceptible to cracks when navigating challenging off-road terrain.

The chassis is configured in an exoskeleton-style layout, enveloping the camper entirely and extending even over the camper shell. This setup is expected to provide excellent protection against impacts from trail obstacles, ensuring the camper’s durability on rugged journeys.

Earth Camper Trailer Shell

When navigating dusty dirt tracks, the last thing you want is for dust to infiltrate your living space or coat your equipment. ARB has ingeniously incorporated a dust-suppression system into the Earth Camper to address this concern. This system comprises two roof vents equipped with filters, which help maintain a pressurized environment within the camper and kitchen area. This pressurization serves as a barrier, preventing dust from infiltrating your living space when venturing down less-traveled roads.

The camper shell itself is constructed from fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) and is coated with a “cool grey” gel coat. With 25 mm thick walls, including a 20mm foam core, it offers effective temperature and noise control within the camper. Notably, ARB’s Earth Camper follows a 100% wood-free design, ensuring enhanced durability and longevity, regardless of the climate it encounters.

Campsite Kitchen

A standout feature of this camper is its comprehensive kitchen setup that smoothly extends from the side. This well-equipped kitchen includes a substantial 96-liter ZERO fridge/freezer, a spacious pull-out pantry complete with a countertop, and a convenient three-burner cooktop/sink combination. The water supply is drawn from dual 140-liter water tanks, with the pump being powered by an onboard 100Ah lithium battery.

To shield the entire kitchen area from the elements, the camper boasts a freestanding awning seamlessly integrated into the camper shell to prevent any snagging on trees while traversing challenging trails.

For the stove and hot water systems onboard, propane is the power source. The setup includes two propane bottles with insulating covers, along with dedicated storage spots for added convenience.
